As part of the Peterborough Festival 2009, which started on Saturday 20 June. I was actively involved with the Peterborough Artists Open Studios (PAOS), who have been very proactive in showcasing art in the community. The event kicked off in Central Park with 'Meet the Artist' on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June. Here in the big tent the public were able to freely meet and talk to local artists, exchange tips and view demonstrations on various techniques and disciplines. As the Festival itself slowly came to a close, art came alive as PAOS launched three weekends of art displays in and around Peterborough, starting on 4 July. A number of artists opened their workshops, houses, gardens, studios and whatever spaces to show their work. There was an array of paintings and drawings, Photographs, Pottery, Jewellery, Carvings, Sculpture and all sorts of art. I myself was displaying my collection of works along with some new pieces as part of the Open Arts Studio at: Martin & Co in Park Road. Peterborough Artists Open Studios (PAOS) began in 2000 by Sue Shields and Kathryn Moore and has grown over the years. In 2008, 34 artists took part in this prestigious event and in 2009 over 40 artists were involved. For more information visit the website: www.paos.org.uk
